The Ping founders name is one most golfers have heard but maybe not together. Karsten Solheim’s name is synonymous on Ping’s world renowned putters and proudly displayed on the famous trophy for the female version of the Ryder Cup known as the Solheim Cup.
However, Karsten Solheim should be best known for his innovation within golf club manufacturing. It all started with putters and creating a bigger sweet spot, developed over time the Anser putter was hugely successful with over 500 PGA tour victories. Ping was also the first manufacturer to start custom fitting golf clubs in 1969 using pings patented heel-toe weighting and colour coding so replacements could easily be ordered.
Fast forward to the present day and Ping is one of Golfs elite manufacturers, with big name tour players such as Tyrell Hatton, Bubba Watson, Viktor Hovland and long time staff player Lee Westwood.
