With year round spring-like weather Gran Canaria is the ideal location for a golf holiday break. Whether you prefer the warmer climate of the North East, the fresh trade winds of the South West, Championship standard courses or beginner level Par 3 courses, Gran Canaria can offer a golf holiday to suit all golfers.
With numerous championship golf courses on the island, both old and new, Gran Canaria offers some of the best golf breaks in the Canary Islands. Let’s start by looking at the golf courses anf golf breaks in the North East:
Real Club de Golf Las Palmas
Founded by British expatriates in 1891, the Real Club de Golf de Las Palmas is actually the oldest golf course in all Spain. It moved to its present location in the Bandamas plains in 1956. The course boasts wonderful views over Caldera de Bandama, a spectacular volcanic crater.

Designed by Mackenzie Ross, this is a par-71, 18-hole Championship Course offers spring-like weather all year round.
El Cortijo Club de Campo
El Cortijo is a well established championship course that has already played host to a number of professional tournaments including the PGA European Tour 2002 Canarias Open.

Designed by the highly regarded partnership of Blake Stirling and Marco Martin, El Cortijo is layed out in three valleys and incorporates 6 lakes and over 600 century-old palm trees. With up to 6 tees to play off El Cortijo is set-up to accommodate all player levels. It has large fast greens which are a joy to putt on all year round.
Oasis Golf Centre / El Cortijo
Located just across the road from the El Cortijo Club de Campo is the Oasis Golf Centre / El Cortijo. It’s a floodlit 18-hole par 3 course allowing for longer golfing hours even when the sun goes down.

Maspalomas Golf
Located in the south of the island is the Mackenzie Ross designed Maspalomas Golf. Set into the surrounding sand dunes of the southern shoreline, Maspolamas benefits from mild sea breezes cooled by the trade winds.

Measuring only 6,189 yards from the back tees Maspalmas is not the longest course on Gran Canaria but Mackenzie Ross certainly made it an interesting challenge for even the most skilled golfer.
Meloneras Golf
The Meloneras Golf Course is one of a number of new courses to open in the south of the island. This 18-hole championship course is designed by Ron Kirby of the US.

Set against the backdrop of the mountains Meloneras Golf offers stunning views out over the Atlantic.
Salobre Golf & Resort
Salobre Golf has two new 18-hole Championship Courses with fantastic sea and mountain views – Salobre Norte and Salobre Sut.

Salobre Sut (South) is 6,760 yards off the back tees and provides a real test for golfers of all levels. Salobre Norte (North), which opened in the Autumn of 2009, is Ron Kirby designed and is shorter than its sister course.
Anfi Tauro Golf
Anfi Tauro has a stunning new 18-hole Chamionship Course on a huge expansive site. The Arizona style course opened in 2007 and is designed by leading designers Von Hagge.

This impeccably well maintained PGA Championship course is visually stunning with fantastic views to the mountains, sea and the course itself. Von Hagge, who also designed the renowned Doral Country Club in Florida, has produced a real gem in crown of Gran Canaria golf courses. Also on the same site is the older 9-hole par 3 course and extensive practice facilities.
